Physicochemical properties:
Colorless monoclinic wedge crystal or white granule or crystalline powder. It is hygroscopic. Stable in the air. The Ferien solution cannot be restored. No sputum is formed. No change in optical rotation. It can be decomposed at 160 to 186 °C. It can be hydrolyzed into glucose and fructose by dilute acid invertase. 1 g is dissolved in 0.5 ml of water, 170 ml of ethanol, about 100 ml of methanol, and slightly soluble in glycerin and pyridine. The relative density (d 254) is 1.587.
Usage:
Biological medium. Separate calcium and magnesium. Measure 1-naphthol. Complexation titration of boron masking agent. Organic microanalytical determination of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen standards. Sweetener.
