Physicochemical properties:
White crystalline powder. There is a smell of sulfur dioxide. Unpleasant taste. Part of the sulphur dioxide is lost in the exposed air and oxidized to sulfate. It is dissolved in 3.5 parts of cold water, 2 parts of boiling water, and about 70 parts of ethanol, and the aqueous solution is acidic.The relative density is 1.48. Low toxicity, half lethal dose (rat, oral) 2000mg/kg. Irritating.
