Physicochemical properties:
Colorless transparent liquid. It is an aqueous solution of ammonia. It is easy to escape from ammonia and with a strong pungent odor. It is miscible with ethanol. Strongly alkaline. It can absorb carbon dioxide from the air. When reacting with sulfuric acid or other strong acids, it will heat up. It is close to the volatile acid to form smoke. The relative density (d2525) is 0.90. Moderately toxic, half lethal dose (rat, oral) 350mG/kg. Corrosive.
Usage:
Analytical reagents. Neutralizer. Alkaloid leaching agent. Used for the verification and determination of certain elements such as copper and nickel. A hydroxide used to precipitate various elements. Used for preparing ammonium compound. Detergent.
