The hydrochloride salt is a green, metallic luster crystal. It is soluble in water,ethanol, methanol and pentanol, the aqueous solution is blue-green, yellow under pH 2. The maximum absorption wavelength is 616.9 nm. Toxic, half lethal dose (mouse, oral) 80mg/kg. The oxalate (2C23H25N2·3C2H2O4) is a green flake crystal with a metallic luster. It is also soluble in hot water and ethanol, slightly soluble in cold water.
Usage:
Host staining of plant virus infection, bacterial spore staining, staining of red blood cells and aphid eggs. A bacteriostatic agent or an amoeba protozoa. Bacterial polysaccharide reagent. Clinical diagnostic reagents (determination of inorganic phosphates). Photometric determination of gallium, germanium and antimony, catalytic photometric determination of tungsten.
